Shameem Taheri-Lee – Inspirational Songwriter From Australia

The sweeter the voice, the smoother the piece.

She’s the kind of singer to give you chills and thrill,

She is the kind of person to love your Soul, and recognize the beauty in it – Beautiful Soul

She’s the kind of individual to acknowledge the flaws of her social environment

And raise awareness about it with love- I Love You But

She’s the kind of woman to lift your spirits with a taste of poetry and a zest of spirituality – Interlude II (Nectarines and Mangoes)/ I Give Thanks

And like Jill Scott, she’s the kind of one to talk and sing about Love – Other Half Of My Heart

She’s Shameem Taheri-Lee, stunning vocalist and touching songwriter,

Born in Australia to a Chinese-Malaysian father and an Iranian mother.

She owns the art to relate personal stories, while arising socially conscious messages and spiritual influences in her songs.

Her debut single, off of her upcoming EP, proves it, I Love You But.

If the Soul/Pop song sounds like a love song of an indecisive person, uncertain about her relationship,

It rises awareness about something that touches many people: addiction to gambling.

We know this as a pain in The UK, now we’ll know it touches also people in Australia.

This, as well as any other kind of addiction, can happen to be a harsh struggle in a home.

Friday July 28th is the date Shameem will be releasing her anticipated new EP, titled Time Does Not Reverse.
The day after, she’s performing for her EP launch, in one of her favorite venue in Perth, at The Ellington Jazz Club.
The fans who’ve been following her know her tastes for Jazz, and Neo-Soul, indeed.
Inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald (in songs like Hole In My Heart), Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Sade,
She managed to find her very own signature brand of Soul and Jazz artist, with soothing vocals, and powerfully moving.
Now they’ll enjoy more of the Pop like kind of production with a track like I Love You But.
She’ll remain loyal to the 90’s R&B vibes rejuvenated with a fresh take on 70’s Soul music.
Let’s point the fact that, for this new project, although Shameem has always been well surrounded by great musicians and producers from all around the world, this time she wrote and co-produced the 4 tracks, playing keyboards and contributing to the drum programming, as well as her stunning vocals, Gospel-like.

A self-managed, independent artist, Shameem keeps a busy performance schedule, having supported major international artists such as George Benson, Belinda Carlisle, Michael Bolton and Ronan Keating, and undertaken tours in both her native Australia and in the USA and Canada.

2015 has been a busy year for Shameem, who in the span of ten months has released her sophomore album The Second City, undertaken two national Australian tours, and performed in Toronto at Canadian Music Week, among other things.

The Second City includes the singlesBeautiful Soul, which was awarded 4th place in the Australian Songwriting Contest Contemporary Pop/ Dance category.

“Under One Sun”, which was written in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer James Bryan (Nelly Furtado, Olly Murs, James Morrison) and has been nominated in the international Independent Music Awards.

Tracks from both Shameem’s debut and sophomore albums have proven popular with community radio stations around Australia as well as USA college radio, garnering airplay on over 80 Australian stations and 130 USA stations, and charting in the Top 30 at 6 USA stations, including two Top 5 positions.

Meanwhile, her track “Turn It On”, in collaboration with Tokyo-based producer Nick Wood, enjoys great popularity in her home state of Western Australia, having been synced to a major TV advertising campaign.
